Why we swatch

As designers and yarn dyers, much of our knitting time is spent swatching rather than working on full projects: we swatch when we try out new yarns to see if we want to add them to our yarn line, we swatch when we dye new colourways and want to see how they knit up and we swatch when we have an idea for a new design.

A few years ago we thought it might be fun to share some of our swatch explorations with our customers, so we started including a “swatch of the month” feature in our email newsletters. Some of the swatches were part of our design process, others were used to test new yarns or colours, and some were just for fun! We’ve gathered all 50 of our monthly swatches into this ebook as a way to share them with new subscribers as well. The ebook includes both knit and crochet swatches, and a variety of techniques, such as cables, lace, brioche and colourwork.
